U13 Season Review

The U13's started the season slowly but hit their straps in the latter part of the year and were crowned Premiers after defeating the Como Crocs 20-12 in the Grand Final.

In a tense affair the Tigers got off to a great start taking the lead in the first quarter and then staying in front for the remainder of the game. Jacob, Zinny (2) and Alex scored the tries and were well supported with some determined defence and strong running across the park. The strong wind played havoc with both teams game plans but the Tigers came out on top due to their superior ball skills and determined defence.

Splitting the Division 2 teams really helped the U13's who won 4 of the 5 games played scoring 166 points and conceding 54. Everyone contributed throughout the season, and one of the standout features of this team, is how every player supports and encourages each other even when the game is not going their way. The forwards were impressive this season and Albie, Blake, Harry and Ashton got through a tonne of work each game to build a solid platform for the centres and backs to exploit.

This team is blessed with some skilful ball players and throughout the season, Alex, Kobi, Jai Mc, Tommy and Rangi took it in turns to dictate the play and create openings for the U13's speed merchants. Zinny, Finny, Maddox, Luke and Jacob were always on hand to have a run and if any of this group got into space it was often try time. Jai H and Luke also had strong seasons and both played new positions for the team which suited their strength and pace. There were some memorable games this year, the 50-0 defeat of Gymea in round 2 was a great all round team performance and the 42-12 defeat of Aquinas who led until half time was a great come back performance when the boys were under pressure.

We must give a shout-out to all the new players who joined this season Alex, Luke, Jai Mc, Ashton and Maddox all made a significant difference to our team and playing depth and we hope to see you again next year.

Many thanks to Jack, Peter, Darren and Ben for leading the team this year, the boys have appreciated your guidance and training sessions, especially when Pete puts the pads on. We also give a shout out to Kerry who helped with training and was always on hand to support the team when needed.
