The U12 Silver team merged with the Bosco Bulldogs this year and played in a strong group against some tough opposition. The team's record was played 9 games managing 2 draws with 7 defeats, scoring 72 points and conceding 236.
Despite a challenging season, what with Covid, a merged team, new combinations and some pretty tough opposition, the 12's made a great account of themselves and were close in most games. There was clear improvement towards the middle and the back end of the season and the team's personality shone through, with some skilful play and tough defence all around the park. Although the improvement didn't materialise into any wins, it was great to see the players grow in confidence and play with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment.
Although it is difficult to single out any player from the team, special mentions should go to Sam Dover who had an exceptional year and played at a consistently high level throughout the season. Hudson Wilcox was top scorer with 22 points and Millie Cowie playing in her final year was an absolute legend, taking on bigger and stronger players week in and week out and more often than not, getting the better of them.
Despite the results, I think everyone in the 12's can look back on the season as a successful one. We played some good footy, new bonds and friendships were made between players and the whole team enjoyed playing together and playing for each other. Looking ahead to next season, we believe we can be competitive if we can keep the bulk of the squad together and bring in one or two additional players.
A Big Tigers thank you to Dave Pool, Matt Hamilton, Glen Wilcox and TK for all their support and encouragement over the season and we look forward to 2021 with some confidence.
