Tigers V Roosters Pre-Season Friendly

webtodayvipyarra

The final hit out before the season kick-off next week saw the Tigers win 3, draw 1 and lose 3 in hot conditions at Yarrawarrah Oval. The standard of football was very high and the U11 Bronze game between the Tigers and Roosters was the pick of the day, with both teams going try for try before finishing 20-20. All players will be better for the hit-out and a number of teams will go into the season with additional confidence after today's results. Thanks to everyone who came along to Yarrawarrah Oval today to support your local team and a big Tigers shout out to Amanda Burke and Angela May for sharing your photos to include in this report. We look forward to sharing more news and more great memories with you in 2021.

U12 Tigers/Bosco 24 v Roosters 4

The Tigers/Bulldogs started the game brightly attacking the Roosters line and eventually scoring after some sustained pressure through a try to Seth. The Roosters worked their way back into the game and were starting to make some headway through the Tigers/Bulldogs defence before an error saw the Blake score a length of the field try after some quick attacking play. The Tigers/Bulldogs defence was playing well, snuffing out any progress made by the Roosters and Dash scored two quick tries to give the merged team a 20-0 lead at half time. The scoreboard wasn't troubled in the third quarter as both teams tired in the conditions and in the final quarter Fletch scored again for the Tigers/Bulldogs before the Roosters scored a deserved try in the final minute. This was solid hit out for both teams and they can look forward to next weeks season kick off with some confidence.

U6 Tigers 44 V Roosters 36

This was an entertaining game with both teams evenly matched. Hendrix C scored straight from the kick off and this gave the Tigers confidence to keep attacking the Roosters line. Jake (4 tries) and Sonny's (3 tries) speed was a constant threat and the Tigers tackled superbly with Hendrix, Jake and Arlo leading the way for the team. Layken, Hendrix A and Bodhi made some great tackles and were always available to have a run and Josh and Angelo had strong games. This was a great first win for the U6 team and Hendrix C scored the last try for the Tigers with the last play of the game. Let's hope the U6's can build on this win and keep smiling and enjoying the game as much as they did today.

U7 Tigers Green 20 V Sharks 60

This was a closer game than the score suggests and the Tigers were right in the game until half time when the Sharks pulled away and scored a number of tries without reply. Levi and Max joined the team on Friday and both had strong games scoring a try each in their first game for the Tigers. Toby scored a fantastic individual effort and Aston chimed in with two tries to complete the scoring for the Tigers. It was great to welcome Hayden back to the team after his holiday and his strong running and tackling will be an asset to the team. The 7's played both squads over the two games to give everybody a run and it was pleasing to see so many smiles on the players faces.

U7 Tigers Blue 28 V Roosters Blue 40

This was another good game that the Tigers remained close until half time. Charlotte and Roseanna formed a good understanding and threatened whenever we had the ball. Malachi, Toby, Hudson and Kade also played well and Zac continued his good form from last week. Levi scored 5 tries and had a fantastic game, with Max and Zac scoring the other Tigers tries. Logan and Hudson also played well making some good runs and important tackles. This team was a little low on confidence in recent weeks but this performance will put them in good spirits for next week.

U11 Tigers Bronze 20 V Roosters Bronze 20

These two teams played each other last week with the Tigers winning convincingly 32-0. This week was a very different affair with the Roosters leading for long periods. The first quarter was very tight and remained scoreless and in the second and third quarters the teams traded tries in an exciting game. The Roosters were determined to make amends for last weeks result and tackled fiercely and attacked with flair. The Tigers were unable to assert their dominance and were playing catch up football for long periods. Arlo and Levi scored two tries apiece with Kai scoring one and there were strong games from Lewis, Levi, Arlo and Bailey. A draw was a fair result in the end and both teams will go into the first game of the season with some confidence.

U11 Tigers Silver 40 v Pirates 12

This game was tight until half time before the Tigers pulled away in the third and fourth quarters to win with ease. The Pirates started strongly and both defences were playing well to shut down any attacks. At half time the Tigers led 12-8 with an amazing try scored by Levi from a cross field kick by Zar which was spectacularly kept alive in the end goal by Hunter. Zach, Levi and Ethan scored two tries apiece and Lewis, Jack, Zar and Billy completed the scoring for the Tigers. Zar had a strong game and unselfishly set up Zach for a try after breaking through a tiring Pirates defence. This was a solid hit out for the U11's and with a strong pre-season behind the team they will be looking forward to a strong showing in 2021.

U14 Tigers Silver 4 V Titans Gold 36

After last weeks convincing win against the Bulldogs the U14's were brought quickly down to earth against a bigger and faster Titans team. The Titans scored after 30 seconds and quickly marched out to an 18-0 lead. The Titans were quicker and stronger across the park and their players outfought and were more enthusiastic than the Tigers in all areas. The Titans scored again to take a 24-0 half time lead and the Tigers had some work to do to shore up a leaky defence. In the second half the Tigers were more convincing with Alex Mantik and Alex Moussa starting to put the Titans defence on the back foot. Coby, Harry and Albie lifted and started to blunt the Titans attack and Fintan and Bailey were providing some good back up to the Tigers front row. The Tigers managed to score through Kobi P before the Titans put on another three tries to finish the game. With two pre-season games against A Grade teams, the U14's will look forward to playing against their own grade when the season starts.
