Season 2022 finished for the Tigers with a Grand Final appearance for the U12 Bronze team. It was a great way to end the season and cap off a good year for the Tigers overall. Despite several challenges throughout the season, namely caused by the heavy rain that hit Sydney, we can look back at Season 2022 being another positive step forward for the club.
Here are just some of the highlights;
The new Tigers playing strip and merchandise was well received and helped the club stand out from the crowd on match days
The number of registrations in the Cubs program grew
We registered more teams in the competition than the previous season
All our teams made the finals
The U12 Bronze team made the Grand Final in their competition
Our sponsorship numbers grew this season
All Tigers teams finished the season strongly and there were some stand out performances, most notably the U6 team remained undefeated after the re-grading, winning their remaining five games and playing with confidence and a great team spirit. Every player managed to cross the try line and they finished the season on a real high.
The U7 team had an exceptional season overall, only losing two games. They played with a speed and ferocity that many opposition teams found difficult to match. The U8's struggled across the season and suffered some heavy defeats, however, they kept showing up and played to the final whistle in every game and their spirit and effort could never be questioned.
The two U12 teams had strong seasons, the Silvers came good after a poor start and made the finals with a late surge defeating the top four teams in their competition. The Bronze made the grand final but were unable to get on top of a very strong Colts team who remained undefeated for the season.
The U15 team also came good in the second half of the season and made the finals winning their first game but unfortunately lost to the table topping Colts in the preliminary final. The merged U18 team had a disrupted season and this wasn't helped by the sad passing of one of their teammates during the season.
In finishing there are several people we would like to thank.
Firstly, all the players and their families for making the Tigers the club that it is. Passionate, spirited and always positive. You only have to look at the support for the U12 Bronze team in their Grand Final, we had supporters from across the club, dressed as Tigers, wearing orange scarves, hats and jerseys, all there to support the team and the club. So much so, that all other teams commented on the support that we received on the day. We love your passion and what you bring to the Tigers, never change.
We would also like to thank our coaches, trainers and managers. You do a great job week-in and week-out and your guidance and love of the game shines through every weekend. We also want to acknowledge the positive culture you bring to your teams, supportive, always encouraging and making sure that everyone gets a chance to shine.
We also acknowledge and thank the Tigers Committee, you do an amazing job running the club, everyone jumps in and everyone helps out when needed. You can be proud of the culture you have created at the Tigers, a truly inclusive, family run club.
Finally, we would also like to make special mention to our sponsors, they jumped on board early and allowed us to purchase new uniforms, training gear for all players and much needed upgrades to our training equipment. Your support has been invaluable, especially at a time when our season was reduced due to the weather.
We hope to see all players back with the club next season and our doors are open to any new players who would like to join the Tigers in Season 2023.
GO TIGERS IN 2023
