We are getting to the business end of the competition with 4 games to go before finals. If teams are going to make a run to the finals, this was the week to start that charge and we are pleased to have a number of Tigers teams still in contention. It was another beautiful Sydney day and the conditions were perfect for footy and some of our teams shone brightly on a warm Saturday afternoon.

The pick of the games was at Yarrawarrah Oval were the Tigers U10's defeated a gallant Gymea team in the last seconds of the game. The agony and the ecstasy of junior football was on full display with players on both sides leaving the field in tears for very different reasons.

A couple of important wins also for the U9's and U13's which these teams and the U10's in contention for Grand Final Football in 4 weeks time. Well done to all teams this week and please enjoy the reports and galleries below and thanks to everyone for sharing your photos.

U6 Blue Yarrawarrah Tigers 44 Aquinas Colts 52

The Under 6 Blue team were narrowly defeated by a well organised Colts team and again with a bit of luck this could have been a very different result. Aston Gibbons played an amazing game scoring 8 tries, making plenty of tackles and running at defenders throughout the game. Hayden Walker chipped in with 3 tries and made plenty of offloads to teammates which resulted in try scoring opportunities. Hendrix Crawley was awarded Player of the Game and he was always available to make a run, put in a tackle or support his teammates. Aston was awarded the Spirit Award for his all round performance which inspired the whole team. The U6 Blues are very close to a win and we cant wait to hear them sing the club song when they do.

U6 Yellow Yarrawarrah Tigers 52 Taren Point Titans 56

The Under 6 Yellow team went down to a try scored on the bell against the Titans. This was another entertaining game from the U6's with Charlotte Dart scoring 4 tries, Charlize Dance and Kade Jones scoring 3 each and Sonny Faughey bagging a double and Jake McMillan grabbing a try in the 4th quarter. Charlize was awarded Player of the Game for her try scoring efforts and also making some strong tackles. The Spirit Award went to Jake who was strong defensively and also popping up late to score a try. This was another great team performance by the U6's with everyone making a contribution, Sonny made some strong tackles and Marley made plenty of important runs to help teammates.

U7 Red Yarrawarrah Tigers 28 Bosco Bulldogs 64

The Under 7 Red team came up against a bigger, faster and more skilful Bulldogs team who were just too quick on the outside for our players to contain. We had our chances and the team played well but we were just unable to get away from the Bulldogs defence who were too strong and too quick and stopped us at every opportunity. We improved when some the U6's joined us from the 2nd quarter and it was pleasing to see so many scorers with Lennix continuing from where he left off last week, Jaimee-May, Noah, Harrison, Ruben, Malachi and Charlotte all getting over the line to score. Despite the defeats, this team continues to show great effort and spirit and always plays with a smile on their face.

U9 Tigers/Titans 40 Aquinas Colts 16

The merged Tigers/Titans team had another great result beating the Colts and putting on a strong team performance. Angus Wilson had a fantastic game scoring 5 tries and Harlan Taylor chipped in with a double. Jonathon Higgans played a strong game, making some great runs and strong tackles. Kylani and Zalyah also played well and Lachlan Taraby also got on the scoresheet. This was a much improved performance from previous weeks and the team is starting to show their strong form from earlier in the year.

U10 Yarrawarrah Tigers 36 Gymea Gorillas 30

This game had everything and to be fair neither team deserved to lose. Kai Goody scored in the first 30 seconds and we all thought this was going to be another comfortable victory for the Tigers. How wrong we were, Gymea soon hit back to level the scores before putting on a further 2 tries to take an 18-6 lead. Zac Porter scored a fantastic individual effort to keep us in the game, stepping and weaving through the Gymea defence before diving over to score.

Gymea were here to play and they put pressure on the 10's forcing lot's of dropped ball and they were also strong in the tackle and as a result a couple of Tigers had to leave the field for treatment because of injury. The constant stop-start nature of the game stopped the Tigers from building any momentum and when Gymea scored again it looked like the game was lost. However, the U10's never let their heads drop and 2 quick tries from Lewis Amesbury and Jack Nolan got us within a converted try late in the 4th quarter.

The game was on and the Tigers started to show some energy and drive, forcing the Gorillas back on their heels. This sustained pressure paid off and Jack Nolan showed incredible awareness to catch the Gymea defence short and score off a quick play the ball, leaving Max Cooper to kick a pressure conversion to tie the game 30 all. There was less than a minute on the clock and we wondered whether we had left our run too late, when in the dying seconds of the game Hunter Loveday somehow managed to score in the left corner, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

What a game and what a result for the U10's who showed incredible spirit to not only get back in the game but end up winning it. A fantastic result for the Tigers and a fantastic game to watch and both sets of players can be proud of their performance today.

U13 Yarrawarrah Tigers 50 Gymea Gorillas 0

This was a dominant display by the U13's who controlled the game throughout and scored some wonderful team tries. Fintan Kelly top scored with 3 and Albie Lamaro got a well deserved double. Kobi Porter, Alex Mantik, Luke Fenton, Hazza Melbourne and Jai McEwen also got on the scoresheet and we had 5 different goal kickers too. We were strong in the middle of the park with Blake, Albie and Hazza tackling everything that looked remotely like getting through a gap. Alex and Kobi controlled our attacks with both players sharing the responsibility to run the ball and create opportunities for teammates. The passing was a real feature today, crisp, quick through the hands and always probing the defence.

There were some notable tries, with Albie Lamaro scoring the pick in a tight run contest, collecting the ball from the kick-off and busting through a tiring Gymea defence before sprinting away to score. Luke Fenton also scored a great team try after a break away from Kobi, enabled Jacob Way and Jai McEwen to combine and then give the ball to Luke who powered down the right touchline, crashing through defenders to score in the corner. Hazza Melbourne followed up his first ever try against Aquinas by scoring a second try this week. A clever run from the scrum, barging his way through the defence and actually carrying a couple of Gorilla defenders over the line with him before scoring.

This was the perfect result to go into next week's game against the top of the table Como Crocs which should be a real test for both teams.
