After last weeks perfect playing conditions, this week turned out to be a completely different kettle of fish, which we are sure at one point, where actually falling from the skies on Friday, fish that is not kettles. Saturday turned on a cold but bright and sunny morning and there were a lot of anxious parents waiting for news about the days games. At 8:00 am the JRL confirmed that all games would go ahead and we had a lot of excited Tigers ready to play.

All teams were playing away this week and the U13's were again selected again to feature on Bar TV, the link is here if you want to watch the replay of the game. Every week, the cameras will be located at one of the grounds and will stream the games from that day. Last week it was Gymea's home ground and this week Aquinas, so watch out for future locations.

U6 Blue Yarrawarrah Tigers 48 Sutherland Pirates 56

The Under 6 Blue team are still searching for their first win after coming up just a bit short against a good Pirates outfit. Over 100 points were scored in an exciting game and the Tigers were in the game right until the end with the Pirates just holding on for a narrow victory. Logan Estcourt was awarded Player of the Game and tackled all game and Hendrix Crawley was awarded the Spirit Award for his constant encouragement and strong runs. Hayden Walker had another strong game using his strength to score 5 tries and Zachary May used his speed to score 4 tries. This game will long be remembered in the Gibbon's household as Arlo scored his first try for the Tigers. Despite the defeat, there were plenty of smiles on the Tigers faces and it was a great effort by the whole team.

U6 Yellow Yarrawarrah Tigers 68 Taren Point Titans 80

The Under 6 Yellow team came up against a very strong Titans team and were narrowly defeated in another entertaining game. 148 points in a game represents fantastic value and it was try for try until the Titans pulled away in the final quarter. Jake McMillan was awarded Player of the Game for a great all round effort and chipping in with a try. Marley Ackroyd led from the front and was awarded the Spirit Award for a strong game and scoring a try. Sonny and Kade showed great footwork throughout the game and Charlotte with 7 tries and Charlize with 5 tries did most of the damage on the scoreboard and both girls had the Titans defence constantly guessing were the next attack was coming from. Another great game from the team and everybody came off the pitch happy despite the defeat.

U7 Red Yarrawarrah Tigers 4 Como Crocs 60

The Under 7 Red team came up against a very strong Como team and despite suffering another heavy defeat played with plenty of spirit. The whole team tackled well and at periods throughout the game passed well and had the opposition worried. Jaimee-May Kane was awarded the Player of the Game and marked the occasion by scoring her first ever try. Lennix Ellis was awarded the Spirit Award and made plenty of runs and tackled hard throughout the game. Charlotte, Aston, Hayden and Malachi all played up this week and Harrison and Lennix showed enormous courage playing on after being hurt during the game.

U9 Taren Point/Tigers 12 Cronulla Caringbah 22

The merged Tiger/Titans U9 team narrowly went down to a very strong Sharks team and everyone played well in what was a tough game. The team showed plenty of spirit and were in the game for a long period but the Sharks extra class showed and they pulled away in the final quarter. Aiden May scored his first try of the season after a great run from dummy half and Harlan Taylor saved a certain try with some strong goal line defence. On another day the score could have been different but it was another strong showing from the merged team who play for each other and show up every week.

U10 Yarrawarrah Tigers 0 Gymea Gorillas 50 (Mercy Rule Applied)

After last weeks heroics the Under 10 team came up against one of the form teams of the competition and were outmuscled and outfought in a one sided affair. The Gorillas were just too strong and too fast for the 10's and we had little space or time to threaten in any way. Arlo, Hudson and Jack all had good games, tackled hard and made some impressive runs when they had the chance.

U13 Yarrawarrah Tigers 56 Aquinas Colts 6

A fantastic result and a fantastic performance by the U13's this week with a convincing win against a decent Colts team. The Tigers scored in the first 30 seconds after a barnstorming run by Blake Burke and the team kept up the intensity, flair and tries all game. Fintan Kelly scored 5 tries and was a constant threat on the left wing and Zinzan Delaney and Alex Mantik scored fantastic individual efforts under the posts, Zinzan palming and stepping his way through the Colts defence and Alex catching everyone off guard from the scrum. Rangi and Zinzan controlled the middle of the field and Albie, Harry and Luke were strong in defence. Blake Burke was awarded Player of the Game and he made plenty of metres and constantly had the Tigers going forward. The two new recruits Jai and Maddox were awarded the Spirit Award and looked like they had played for the Tigers for many years. In fact all 3 of the Tigers new recruits, Ashton, Jai and Maddox all made important contributions and Maddox marked his first touch of the ball with a try.

A tough week to be a Tiger this weekend and although we may not have won on the scoreboard, we were sure fire winners in the spirit stakes. Four rounds into the 2020 season and there is a lot to celebrate despite our league positions. We never give up, we keep going until the end and we always play with a smile.

Please check out the photos from each of the games in the gallery below, and many thanks again to all the parents for sharing your photos, so we could put the Match Day report together.
