Covid Safe Footy

It is great news that the 2020 season has been given the green light and we are pleased to be playing footy again this year. It has taken quite a bit of effort to get to this point, and we need to make sure that as a club, we take every precaution to keep players, officials and parents safe for the remainder of the season.

The NSWRL has put together a Resource Hub which is filled with information and resources to help players, parent and clubs better understand the new requirements post Covid-19. You can view these resources by clicking this link.

Overview

There has been a great deal of effort behind the scenes to get the 2020 season restarted and all clubs have to do their bit to ensure that players, officials and the general community remains safe during the season. The NSWRL has put together an education slide show to help all clubs players and parents get a full understanding of the steps we have to take to make our return to footy, Covid safe. You can view this slideshow here and we would encourage all Tigers members, players and parents to view the presentation.

We ask all Tigers players, officials and parents to comply with the following practice:

Good Hygiene

  • Practice good hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and water

  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitisers when you can’t use soap and water

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or a flexed elbow

Stay Safe-Stay Away

  • If you feel unwell don't come to training, stay home until you feel better

  • If you have been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 please stay home, get tested and contact us with your test results

  • If you have returned from overseas please stay home, get tested and contact us with your test results

  • If you have any symptoms such as a fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigued or shortness of breath-stay home

Training

There is a two stage plan for all clubs to recommence training, Stage 1 runs from 15 June to 1 July and involves no contact training. Stage 2 runs from 1 July to 12 October and covers full contact training. The NSWRL Hub has more detailed information on this, which you can view by clicking this link.

Based on the feedback we received from Tigers Coaches and Managers the following teams have allocated their training days as below. The JRL has approved this schedule and please let me know if there are any changes to days and/or times so I can update the JRL:

  • Tuesday U9, U12 and U13

  • Wednesday U6 and U7

  • Thursday U10, U12 and U13

We ask all players and parents to assist us to comply with these regulations by observing the following:

  • Be ready to train prior to arriving at the oval and leave as soon as training is finished

  • Wash your hands or Sanitise immediately before you commence training, hand sanitiser will be available at the oval and as soon as training as finished

  • Only essential personnel to attend training sessions-this includes; players, coaches, trainers and managers

  • Sign the attendance register

  • Parents and spectators are requested to observe from their vehicles or from outside of the oval

  • Physical distancing (>1.5m) should be maintained at all times

  • Practice good hygiene and no spitting or clearing nasal passages is allowed on the oval

Game Day

Game Day will be a particularly busy time for all clubs and officials will be working extra hard to reduce the risk of infection and ensure everyone is safe. Players and spectators are asked to observe good hygiene practices and maintain social distancing and there will be additional time in between games to allow players and spectators disperse from the ground immediately after their game.

As a result of Covid 19 the NSWRL has updated a number of rules and these changes can be read by clicking on the following link. In addition to these changes we ask all players and parents to assist us to comply with these regulations by observing the following:
